Bullying, By Gabby K

What is Bullying?
Bullying is when a person or people physically or mentally hurts another person or people. Bullying happens everyday in schools, in town, and at work. Normally, children from the age of twelve to seventeen are bullied, bully others. Every day around 160,000 teens skip school because they are afraid of their peers. You can't change who you are, but most kids and adults are afraid to be who they are.

What Are the Causes of Bullying?
There are many causes of bullying. When a kid is between the ages of 12 to 17, they can be very self-conscious. Children can take advantage of this and hurt others. Teasing to physically hurting someone is all considered bullying. Bullies are usually the ones who are self-conscious.
What Are the Consequences?
If someone is caught bullying (in school) they can be violated, and be reported as a HIB. (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) If you are reported for a HIB, it goes onto your permanent record. However, if you are an adult, the police could become involved if the situation is serious enough.

What Actions Can YOU Take?
If you strongly agree with me, that bullying is completely wrong, there are many steps anyone can take. For instance if you log onto https://www.dosomething.org/ you can sign up to make a change. This website allows you to take a stand, and even host your own event. This is a great website because it allows you read about other people's stories. It really is inspiring!

What Are the Solutions?
There are many solutions to solve and decrease bullying worldwide. If you are just beginning to get bullied you can talk to the bully, or talk to a trustworthy adult. If the bullying continues to be a problem, contact the school principal.
